Can I buy additional or replacement robotic components?
Yes — extra robotic components (the servos, sensors, and other parts that plug into your kit breakout board) are available as replacements or as add-ons. They aren't sold through our online store yet, so the way to get them is to submit a support ticket and our team will follow up with details.
You can see the robotic components we stock on our spare parts page.
Submit a support ticket
Use the Create Support Ticket form in the Knowledge Base for both replacements.
To help us respond quickly, include:
- The component you need, and how many.
- Your school or organisation name and shipping location.
- What you already tried, if you're reporting a fault (see the checks below).
- Your order details or purchase date, so we can check whether the kit is still under warranty.
One of my robotic components broke or isn't working
Before you request a replacement, run these quick checks — they often clear up the problem in the middle of a class, and they tell us what's really going on.
- Swap the component for the same type of component from another kit. If the second one works, the first is likely faulty.
- Swap the component into a different port on the breakout board (the board that connects your micro:bit to everything else). If it works elsewhere, the port may be the issue.
- Swap the cable connector. A damaged cable can look exactly like a dead sensor or servo.
If those checks point to the component itself, it may be broken or defective.
- Still under warranty: a replacement component may be available at no cost. Submit a support ticket and we'll confirm.
- Out of warranty: submit a support ticket to ask about buying a replacement.
I'd like to add extra robotic components to my kit
If there's a component or sensor you'd like to add — for example, so more student groups can build at once — you may be able to buy it individually. Browse the spare parts page, then submit a support ticket with the parts and quantities you want.
Before you order duplicates
Using more than one of the same robotic component in a single kit is possible with some components and not others, depending on how the component communicates with the breakout board. Generally, components that use the top of the breakout board (sensors) can be used multiple times and daisy-chained. Motors (gear icon) cannot. Check this before you order duplicates so you don't end up with parts you can't use together.
