What is the maximum output of the Smart Solar Energy Kit?
The max output of the panel is 2 Watts.
The Smart Solar Energy Kit is a micro:bit powered STEM kit designed to teach students about renewable energy and coding while powering a real device! The Smart Solar Energy Kit contains an Energy Meter which can transform power from the solar panel into a useable and readable power output through the micro:bit.
To view the voltage and current being produced by the panel, connect your Smart Solar Energy Kit to the micro:bit and pair the micro:bit in MakeCode using the Forward Education extension. Download your project to the the micro:bit and you will be able to see the virtual simulators that show the current and voltage reading from the panel.
Because the Smart Solar Energy Kit is designed to be an educational product, it has a maximum power output of 2 watts. This is enough power to charge a small electronic device (including your breakout board or a CHARGE for micro:bit) over a period of time but it is not designed to power larger electronics like a phone or tablet..
