What if I can't finish a lesson in a single class period?

Tips and tricks if you need to spread out Climate Action Kit lessons

Although our lessons are designed for a 40 to 60 minute class, it's entirely possible to stretch them out over a longer period of time. The material is organized into Sections—Overview, Big Idea, and Take Action—and each section includes a varying number of Lessons.

Suggested Week-long Plan:

Class One: Introduction and UN Sustainable Goals

Begin by reviewing the project's introduction and learning goals with your class.

Next, discuss the United Nations' global sustainability goals, focusing on those relevant to the project.

Optional: You can also go over the components of the Climate Action Kit at the end of this session.

Class Two and Beyond: Big Idea

In the second class, start on the 'Big Idea' section. Note that the number of lessons within this section will differ depending on the project.

These lessons offer bite-sized information that ties back to the central theme and can typically be covered in one class period.

Take Action Section

When you reach the 'Take Action' section, proceed through the lessons that include Coding Concepts, Building Your Project, and Coding Your Project.

Here's a more detailed time breakdown for each lesson type:

Building Your Project: 40-60 minutes

Coding Concepts: 40-60 minutes

Coding Your Project: 40-60 minutes

Challenges: 40-60 minutes

Feel free to adjust this suggested framework to fit your class's unique needs and schedule. The content can be broken down and customized to work best for your teaching environment.
